Educational and Instructional Materials

I am interested in using screenshots from your website in my textbook, instructional video or classroom presentation. May I do so without permission?

You may use standard, unaltered screenshots from our websites in print or digital formats for an instructive or illustrative purpose in educational materials. The screenshot must be unaltered in any way, including without limitation, no superimposed graphics, photos, or designs.

“Educational materials” include study materials used for instruction in a classroom or virtual learning environments, as well as materials used to train existing or potential sellers on eBay.

You must agree to the terms of use.

Domain Registration and Use

I would like to register and use a domain containing one of eBay’s brands. Am I allowed to do so?

We do not permit third parties to register and/or use a domain name incorporating any of our marks.

eBay Name and Logo

I am a seller on eBay and / or train others on how to sell on eBay. May I use the eBay logo on my business cards?

We do not permit the use of the eBay logo by third parties on business cards or in marketing or advertising materials. You may use the eBay name descriptively to indicate you sell on eBay or train users how to sell on eBay. You may not use the eBay name in your taglines, business names, product names, or on store signage.

I have a store on eBay. I would like to place the eBay logo on my website to direct users to my eBay store.

We do not permit the use of the eBay logo for linking purposes. However, you may use the “right now on eBay” link button to link to your listings on ebay.com from your website. To learn more, please visit http://pages.ebay.com/policies/linkbuttons.html.

We are a software development company and create applications for eBay sellers to use in connection with their eBay stores. May we use the eBay name in the name of our app and/or the eBay logo in connection with our app?

We don’t allow the use of our logo in connection with your app. You may use the eBay name descriptively to indicate the purpose or compatibility of your app with eBay. For example, “[APP NAME] for eBay,” “[APP NAME] for eBay stores,” “[APP NAME] for eBay sellers.”

We are a supplier for eBay and/or sell on eBay and would like to place the eBay logo on some merchandise, like uniforms, T-shirts, mugs, etc. Are we permitted to do that?

We do not allow third parties to use our logo on merchandise.

I am writing a book about eBay. I would like to use the eBay name, logo and some screenshots on the book cover and in the book. Is that permitted?

You may use the eBay name descriptively to describe the subject matter of the book, including in the book title, if the book is about selling on eBay and where eBay is central to the story. You may also use standard, unaltered screenshots from our site in print or digital formats for an instructive or illustrative purpose. The screenshot must be unaltered in any way, including without limitation, no superimposed graphics, photos, or designs. Your use of eBay’s intellectual property as described in this section means you have agreed to the Terms of Use. You may not use the eBay logo without a written license from eBay.
